Ever felt frustrated when visualisation didn't work for you?

You're not alone.

When I first started using it I made a critical mistake: I focused solely on the outcome I wanted.

This often disappointed me.

Seeing the end result was motivational, but not that effective.

Through experimentation I discovered effective visualisation require us to go beyond imagining the end goal. We need to mentally rehearse overcoming obstacles too. And then explore each of the detailed action steps we need to take.

This way, when we get into action, our brains know what to do.

Later on I found Dr. Gabriele Oettingen’s research on
. This supported my experience. And alongside this some sports psychology experts emphasised a similar approach.

Master visualisation and you'll have a useful tool for developing your elite performance mindset.

BTW, I also experimented with auditory (self-talk) and kinaesthetic (somatic movement) mental rehearsal techniques too. These became a powerful component of my work.

Would it be useful to share more on this another time?
