Legacy. A troublesome word.

Legacy.
A troublesome word.
A bit too grand for most of us, really.

When I come across it I always think of those blue plaques - a name on a wall where someone famous lived. I guess that's a form of life after death.

So what is the legacy us everyday mortals want.
For me, most days, it’s a quieter ambition than that.
Encouraging words. Keeping promises. Improving things.

We don’t often know what we’re building. That meaning comes later ... with hindsight. Or in someone else’s feedback.

Perhaps the point isn’t to be remembered at all, but to keep something moving.

A gesture.
A habit.
A little light.

It’s enough for me, most days.
I like the idea of legacy without fame.

Something to think about, isn’t it?
Now what trace will you be leaving?
